NJ Earthquakes: Why Are There More of Them Now?

New Jersey isn’t typically known as prone to earthquakes. But the state is experiencing a noticeable uptick in seismic activity over the past year, including this week’s 2.7 magnitude earthquake centered in Bergen County. That followed a 3.0 magnitude quake that struck the same area on Saturday — shaking most of North Jersey and even parts of New York City.
