Jersey Shore: Offshore Wind Controversy Continues

As one project - Atlantic Shores Wind has been placed on a hiatus until more research can be done to ensure the project meets all the requirements - Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) has voiced strong opposition to another offshore wind project off the New Jersey coast around Asbury Park and Long Branch and New York around Long Beach. According to Smith, developer Equinor plans to commence construction on the Empire Wind 1 offshore wind project (see map in the carousel), citing defiance of President Trump's January 20 executive order that pauses new offshore wind approvals pending a comprehensive review.​
