Pharmacy Chain Planning Mass Layoffs In NJ

Rite Aid will lay off more than 1,100 New Jersey employees in the coming months as the company files for bankruptcy, closes stores and attempts to sell its assets.

NJ SEED: In compliance with the 60 day notification requirement under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, Rite Aid has announced massive layoffs in NJ. Rite Aid is the third largest pharmacy chain in the US and is entering its second chapter 11 filing. Retail pharmacies are facing increasing competition from online services and supermarket pharmacies.
