New Jersey’s financial state has been a significant concern for years. Major underlying issues, particularly long-term liabilities and a structural budget deficit, continue to pose a risk to the state’s financial stability. Simply, financial liabilities greatly exceed financial assets. For New Jersey’s school districts, many are no longer able to cover annual expenses.
