NJ Transit to Buy 208 Buses and 20 Electric Buses for Nearly $400M to Modernize Fleet

NJ Transit’s board approved the agency to purchase 208 new buses and 20 electric buses for $393 million at its meeting Wednesday (4/9).


The purchase follows through on a promise to fully modernize the transit agency’s bus and train fleets before 2031, said Kris Kolluri, NJ Transit’s president and CEO. The agency plans to spend more than $1.3 billion on bus purchases over the next six years in order to replace 1,235 buses in total.
