NJ Transit and ATU Announce Tentative Contract Agreement

NJ TRANSIT and its largest union, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), have reached a tentative contract agreement which covers more than 5,500 employees, including bus drivers and mechanics, light rail operators and call center staff. The agreement is now headed to ATU members for ratification, but the threat of a strike still looms as engineers represented by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) could still walk off the job in just 9 days, with contract talks still stalled over pay.
