NJ Scrambles to Curb Energy Costs

From studying how to harness power from ocean waves to changing how the state regulates large data centers, New Jersey lawmakers are advancing a raft of measures aimed at addressing concerns about the rising cost of energy. 


On Thursday (6/12), legislative committees in the Assembly and Senate approved measures related to state energy policies and the overall affordability of energy in New Jersey.

NJ SEED: In an effort to minimize the impact of escalating electricity costs, legislators are moving legislation to address the situation. There is a supply and demand aspect to the issue. More and more states respond to environmental concerns by planning to eliminate fossil fuels without providing adequate replacement sources. Meanwhile, demand for energy grows as data Centers and renewed manufacturing among others require more and more energy. Perhaps it would be a good idea to review the state’ Energy Master Plan and update it to meet changes in the energy marketplace.
