New Jersey lawmakers advanced dozens of bills this week, as the clock counts down on the legislative session and Gov. Phil Murphy’s time in office.
The bills moving forward include a number of high-profile measures like the Climate Superfund Act, which hold oil companies liable for damages caused by climate change. The legislation targets certain companies that sell fossil fuels in New Jersey, and would collecting (sic) fines from those companies to pay for climate change mitigation and resilience projects in communities around the state.
