How lawmakers Rewrote Language in NJ Budget to Big Effect

In addition to hundreds of millions of dollars in spending, the Democrats controlling New Jersey’s budget process added or changed 48 pages in the bill to divert money from dedicated funds, give a pass to poorly performing nursing homes and attempt to maximize federal Medicaid payments as Congress moves to cut Medicaid funding.

NJ SEED: It appears that election year politics may have influenced some of the diversions from dedicated funds to other areas. Trying to protect Medicaid funding is understandable, as long as it is consistent with the law, as the federal government seeks to eliminate fraud and abuse from that system.
