Governor Sherrill Takes Action on Legislation

June 30, 2026 | nj.gov

A $60.7 billion budget wasn’t the only business occupying the State House yesterday, with N.J. lawmakers also approving a passel of laws in a hectic legislative session.

  • Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced she had signed the state spending plan for fiscal 2027 after 11 p.m., just moments before the constitutionally mandated deadline.

  • Some of the new laws are directly related to the budget or other spending issues, such as a three-year increase in the state child tax credit for low- and moderate-income families.

  • Among 15 laws signed by Sherrill are measures regulating so-called internet data brokers and health clubs.
