NJ SEED: DEP Commissioner LaTourette discusses the state’s position on seeking restitution from companies that deposited PFAS into waste water streams. The disposal of these “forever chemicals” dates to the 1940s but their potential for human harm dates only to 2006. Much more study needs to take place to precisely determine concentrations that actually cause human harm. In the meantime, it appears chemical companies will continue to be held responsible for releasing them.
