More than three-quarters of the state’s municipalities have filed resolutions certifying their affordable housing obligations, the number of units towns say meet legal requirements, with the new state Affordable Housing Dispute Resolution Program as of Friday (2/7).

NJ SEED: The state’s Affordable Housing mandate will likely result in increased jobs in the construction industry. Many municipalities, however, are struggling to meet the requirements. Some are faced with limited buildable land. Many are faced with conflicting state statutes and regulations such as the State Development and Redevelopment Plan, the Highlands region rules, and Historic District designations.
