Remembering Jim Florio

NJ SEED observes with sadness the passing of former Governor, Congressman, and legislator Jim Florio who died Sunday (9/25) at age 85. A long-time friend, Jim Florio was a recipient of NJ SEED’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Born in Brooklyn, Jim served as an officer in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958. He did undergraduate work at Trenton State (now The College of New Jersey) and graduated from Rutgers School of Law in 1967. He served two terms in the General Assembly and 15 years in the House of Representatives before serving one term as Governor.
As a legislator, congressman and governor, Jim Florio was a reliable friend of NJ SEED
Long after he left office, Jim Florio continued to be an active voice on public policy issues.
NJ SEED extends deepest sympathy to Jim’s wife Lucinda and the entire Florio family.
