Port Authority Unveils $10B Redesign for NYC Bus Terminal

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on Thursday (2/1) announced it has received federal approval of a draft environmental impact plan for the transformation of the world’s busiest bus facility. The $10 billion plan calls for tearing down the existing 73-year-old terminal and replacing it with a facility that can keep up with projected commuter growth over the next decades.

NJ SEED: An estimated 200,000 commuters pass through the Port Authority Bus Terminal every weekday, including 23 % of NJ’s commuters. The 73 year old facility is outdated and in serious need of replacement. Doing so in crowded mid-town Manhattan is a major logistical headache.
