NJ Needs to Spend Bigger if it Wants to Pocket More Tourism Bucks

From hosting World Cup soccer games to celebrating the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, the next few years could be pivotal for a state tourism industry still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

NJ SEED: Tourism is one of the state’s most important industries with visitors spending about $50 Billion a year. The Murphy Administration has committed increased resources to promote this vital segment of the economy. The most critical need is improvement in our transportation infrastructure – roads, trains, & busses. As NJ prepares to emphasize the state’s role in the American Revolution, it is disappointing to note that only about 6% of tourists visit sites associated with the fight for independence. This may be in part due to the lack of emphasizing US history in the nation’s public schools.
