Labor Shortage Continues to Plague NJ Employers

Updated: Jun 27

Nearly 34% of New Jersey businesses reported have difficulty hiring employees last month, more than employers in neighboring states and the national average, according to the latest U.S Census Bureau Pulse Survey data collected Jan. 10–16.

NJ SEED: Just over one third of NJ employers report difficulty in finding employees as the nation recovers from the pandemic. Many issues factor in, fear of COVID in a state that had a high concentration of infection, generous welfare programs discourage some from seeking work, firing workers who resist mask mandates are among them. Look for improvement as COVID fears subside and the economy rebounds.
