Immigrant Work Permits Extended Amid Massive Backlog of Applications

Thousands of immigrants whose U.S. work permits expired will be able to continue earning money. A new federal policy starting on Thursday (5/5/2) extends their legal work permits for up to a year and a half as the government works to deal with a backlog of 1.5 million applications.
NJ SEED: With some 11.5 million job openings in the country, it is wise to extend expiring immigrant work permits. A means needs to be devised to expedite the approval process while appropriately vetting applicants.
